As I read in Proverbs this morning I noticed verses that spoke of things about the King, the ultimate authority figure. Then I read Proverbs 16 which has four consecutive verses about the King. The last one is the best!
12 KINGS DETEST WRONGDOING,
for a throne is established through righteousness.
Even the throne of an earthly king is established or dependent upon how they and those around them behave.
13 KINGS TAKE PLEASURE IN HONEST LIPS;
they value the one who speaks what is right.
If we look at kings as authority figures, such as bosses, then the old adage, ‘HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY’, still holds good.
14 A KING’S WRATH WRATH IS A MESSENGER OF DEATH,
but the wise will appease it.
For believers today we can ask God to forgive us and put our sins under the blood, so simple and so practical. Christ has paid the price for all who come to Him and trust Him.
15 WHEN A KING’S FACE BRIGHTENS, IT MEANS LIFE;
HIS FAVOUR IS LIKE A RAIN CLOUD IN SPRING.
The Lord wants to bless us and this is a beautiful picture of the rain coming to help the crops grow and produce a harvest. Thank you Lord for all your goodness and love towards us.
Come to your King today and receive His Favour and Loving Kindness for your life. He won’t turn you away. Immanuel, God is with us.
Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah, 16 September, SHOUT, THE KING IS COMING!
