Samson lost his way, but the Lord intervened and in the end gave him his greatest victory! Hallelujah Will He do the same again for His people today?

Samson stirred up great anger from the Philistines when he took revenge on his wife and father-in-law. He burned the Philistines corn and then slaughtered many of them for murdering his wife.

THREE THOUSAND MEN, a significant number, came from Judah to take him prisoner and bring him to the enemy. They agreed not to harm Samson, but tied him up and handed him over to their enemy. We have seen people today acquiescing in the face of opposition, so as not to disturb those in  authority. Samson was definitely not one of these, he rose up, or was stirred up and greatly disturbed the enemy.

He liked to write poetic lines to record his victories, (much like David wrote his psalms) when he slew a thousand with the jaw bone of an ass. God gave Samson victory against the greatest of odds AND HE CAN DO IT AGAIN, NO ENEMY IS TOO GREAT FOR OUR ALMIGHTY GOD.

16 Then Samson said,

“With a donkey’s jawbone
I have made donkeys of them.
With a donkey’s jawbone
I have killed a thousand men.”

There are three key verses in the account of Samson;

20 Then she (Delilah) called, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!”

He awoke from his sleep and thought, “I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.” BUT HE DID NOT KNOW THAT THE LORD HAD LEFT HIM. Judges 16

Samson had finally gone too far, the enemies had found the secret of his strength and cut his hair and his connection with God. He wasn’t even aware that the Lord had left him. How many of us are in danger of this today?

21 Then the Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza. Binding him with bronze shackles, they set him to grinding grain in the prison. 22 But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.

His natural eyesight was taken from him, Samson could no longer see the distractions that had brought ruin to his life, BUT HE WAS SHUT IN WITH GOD. The last verse 22, was the thing his enemies didn’t count on, his hair began to grow and his great strength returned. There’s a remnant of true believers rising today which the enemy isn’t counting upon.

Following Samson’s humiliation in the temple of Dagon, before three thousand Philistines and their rulers he cried out to God.

28 Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.”  30 Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines!” Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.

God gave Samson a greater victory when he was totally dependent on him and just when his enemy mocked him most.

28 Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.” 29 Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand on the other, 30 Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines!” Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.

NEVER GIVE UP, GOD CAN GIVE THE WEAKEST SERVANT ASTOUNDING VICTORY AGAINST AN ENEMY.
