Samson (Shimshon, Hebrew – of the sun) was chosen from the womb to fight and kill the enemies of God’s people. All mankind is born into this battle of the ages, though many are unaware.
Samson’s parents had an angelic visitation before his birth, instructing them how he must be cared for, while still in his mother’s womb.
5 You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will begin the DELIVERANCE OF ISRAEL FROM THE HANDS OF THE PHILISTINES.”
7 But he said to me, ‘You will become pregnant and have a son. Now then, drink no wine or other fermented drink and do not eat anything unclean, because the boy will be a Nazirite of God from the womb UNTIL THE DAY OF HIS DEATH. (Samson was God’s man from birth to death, his misdeeds never changed that!) ’ ” Judges 13
The instructions were repeated twice to be absolutely sure that they would be obeyed.
24 The woman gave birth to a boy and named him Samson. He grew and the LORD BLESSED HIM, 25 AND THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD BEGAN TO STIR HIM while he was in Mahaneh Dan, (Means camp of Dan, camp of judgement and HOST of judgement) between Zorah and Eshtaol. Judges 13
The Lord blessed His man as he grew, but then there came a time when the Spirit of The Lord began to stir him. At some point in a life God begins to seek to introduce His plan and purpose and that’s a very important moment for us all. Samson had been set aside for this moment from the womb, probably just as well as he was a strong character. He began to move into the things of God, perhaps not even fully aware of God’s leading. The location where this occurred was Mahaneh Dan, means camp of Dan, but also camp of judgement and Host (Heavenly Host) of judgement. God’s judgement was coming on the enemy.
14 Samson went down to Timnah and saw there a young Philistine woman. 2 When he returned, he said to his father and mother, “I have seen a Philistine woman in Timnah; now get her for me as my wife.” Judges 14
His Father wasn’t happy and no wonder, marriage to a gentile was forbidden, especially an enemy.
But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me. She’s the right one for me.” 4 (His parents did not know that THIS WAS FROM THE LORD, WHO WAS SEEKING AN OCCASION TO CONFRONT THE PHILISTINES; for at that time they were ruling over Israel.)
God was breaking all the rules to pick a fight with the enemy. Truly His ways are not our ways,
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55
Samson was misunderstood by his own father and his people. How often is this true in the Church today, the ones who’re walking with God are often labelled as extreme and troublesome. But God’s not interested in keeping religious people comfortable or maintaining the status quo. No one should rule over His people and He will move heaven and earth to stop that. God is violently confronting the enemies of His people today, the Host of Judgement is moving.
God bless and keep you today.
