Immediately God moved on behalf of His people in Babylon, the enemy responds by trying to kill all the Jews – genocide. A national emergency, but God wins!
King Xerxes, honoured Haman above all his other officials and they all knelt down at the King’s gate as the king had commanded, but Mordecai would not kneel down. Esther 3:1, 2 We in the Church shouldn’t bow our knees, a mark of our allegiance, to anyone or anything not of our God.
Haman was enraged at Mordecai;
6 Yet having learned who Mordecai’s people were, he scorned the idea of killing only Mordecai. Instead Haman looked for a way to destroy all Mordecai’s people, the Jews, throughout the whole kingdom of Xerxes. Esther 3
The enemy is still looking for the way to destroy everyone who worships God, but now he’s using modern technology.
7 In the twelfth year of King Xerxes, in the first month, the month of Nisan, the pur (that is, the lot) was cast in the presence of Haman to select a day and month. And the lot fell on the twelfth month, the month of Adar.
Haman sought guidance for the most favourable time to attack and murder all the Jews in Xerxes’ Kingdom. This plot wasn’t just being planned at an earthly level, but also from the occult realm. It was aimed at destroying all of God’s people and preventing His Kingdom rule on the earth.
8 Then Haman said to King Xerxes, ‘There is a certain people dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom WHO KEEP THEMSELVES SEPARATE. Their customs are different from those of all other people, and they do not obey the king’s laws; it is not in the king’s best interest to tolerate them. 9 If it pleases the king, let a decree be issued to destroy them, and I will give ten thousand talents of silver to the king’s administrators for the royal treasury.’
The customs of the Jews kept them separated from all the other peoples. That was the point Haman used to attack them to the king. They wouldn’t conform with all the others and this may well be the final test for the Church. Please God we hold fast to the Lord and don’t turn away to the ways of this fallen world.
13 Dispatches were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with the order to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews – young and old, women and children – on a single day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods. 14 A copy of the text of the edict was to be issued as law in every province and made known to the people of every nationality so that they would be ready for that day.
The enemy had laid his plans, but Esther and Mordecai had been strategically placed right at the centre of power in the land. Is God doing the same in our day, moving at the centre to overturn all the enemy’s schemes? God’s plans for His future kingdom, will not be overturned in our days. God still wins, Hallelujah.
God bless and keep you today.
