There is a jostling or struggling going on across this earth.
22 THE BABIES WERE JOSTLING EACH OTHER within her, and she said, ‘Why is this happening to me?’ SO SHE WENT TO ENQUIRE OF THE LORD. Genesis 25
Rebekah had become pregnant after Isaac prayed to the Lord for her. God’s hand was very much on their situation, directing them from the heavenly perspective.
23 The Lord said to her,
‘Two nations are in your womb,
and two peoples from within you WILL BE SEPARATED;
one people will be stronger than the other,
and the elder will serve the younger.’ NIV
But the children tumbled and kicked inside her so much that she said, “If this is the way it’s going to be, why go on living?” She went to God to find out what was going on. God told her, TWO NATIONS are in your womb, TWO PEOPLES BUTTING HEADS while still in your body. One people will overpower the other, and the older will serve the younger. MSG
Rebekah was aware of a struggle going on already by the two babies inside her body. God told her this was only the beginning, two peoples would struggle for supremacy and the younger would win.
Isaac, who had a taste for wild game, loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob. Genesis 25:28
The Bible tells us Isaac loved Esau because of the game he hunted so successfully, but Rebekah loved the younger, Jacob. GOD HAD HIS FAVOURITE TOO!
He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved. Psalm 47:4
God chose Jacob’s inheritance for them and he Loved them
‘I have loved you,’ says the Lord. ‘But you ask, “How have you loved us?” ‘Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?’ declares the Lord. ‘Yet I have loved Jacob, Malachi 1:2
In the last book of the Old Testament God again affirms His Love for Jacob, the Jewish people and the Church today.
10 Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. 11 Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad – in order that GOD’S PURPOSE in election might stand: 12 not by works but by him who calls – she was told, ‘The older will serve the younger.’ 13 Just as it is written: ‘Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.’ Romans 9
God is Sovereign and He chooses on the basis of those He Loves, those He knows will love Him.
Isaac and Rebekah each had their favourite sons, they too chose in the natural.
Today there is a struggle going on in the earth, a butting of heads. Yes it’s between spiritual Light and Darkness, Good and Evil, but it’s also between God’s people and the children of the evil one. (Jesus parable of the weeds Matthew 13:38) Not everyone will accept the Lord, some will reject Him by choice because that’s what they’ve chosen. Only the Lord knows those who are His, but until the final harvest the two different children will struggle with one another. We could also say this EARTH IS A BIRTHING PLACE, we’re only here for a time and then we go on to our final destiny.
God bless and keep you today.
