Is God calling some to take a step of Faith today and leave the familiar, to walk out His plans and purposes?
Rahab was remembered and renowned for her Faith Action, she rescued the spies sent by Joshua and saved her life and her family as well.
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous (she’d lived a sinful life, but risking her life for the spies changed everything in God’s sight) for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. James 2
Our Actions sometimes do speak louder than words! They may commit us to a new course from which there’s no going back.
Abraham (the father of all who believe) is mentioned just before Rahab in James 2.
23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,’ and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
We read of his call by God in Genesis 12;
1 The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. 5 He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there. Genesis 12
God’s first word to Abram necessitated a huge step of Faith. Leave your country (no future there anymore), your people (they’re not coming with you) and your father’s household (even your family will be left behind) to go God’s way. This all happened when Abram was 75 years old, he had to come away from all he knew to obtain the promised blessing;
2 ‘I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.’ Genesis 12
Abraham the Father of all who believe and Rahab are mentioned side by side in the Book of James, because they believed and acted on their faith. It wasn’t just something in their heads, THEY HAD TO COMMIT TO GOD!
Some who are reading this may be facing a decision, whether to obey God and leave some people and things behind. May God help you to know His will and Walk in it today.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.’ Luke 6:38
