15 The couriers went out, spurred on by the king’s command, and the edict was issued in the citadel of Susa. The king and Haman sat down to drink, but the city of Susa was bewildered. Esther 3
The king and Haman sat down to drink; Haman’s (the devil’s) plan to annihilate Mordecai and the entire Jewish people was agreed and royal edict issued.
4 When Mordecai learned of all that had been done, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the city, wailing loudly and bitterly. … 3 In every province to which the edict and order of the king came, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping and wailing. Many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
God’s people, on the other hand, were in great distress, humbling themselves publicly and crying out to the Lord for help.
Queen Esther identified with her people in their humiliation before God. In a national crisis, no one is exempt and Esther was the key person in the rescue of God’s people.
15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 ‘Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.’
17 So Mordecai went away and carried out all of Esther’s instructions. Esther 4
There’s a huge impact whenever God’s people fast and pray in unity and events were set to change for their Favour and Deliverance. GOD IS RAISING UP A VAST ARMY OF PRAYER WARRIORS TODAY AND GOD ALWAYS HAS THE LAST WORD!
5 On the third day Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the palace, in front of the king’s hall. The king was sitting on his royal throne in the hall, facing the entrance. 2 When he saw Queen Esther standing in the court, he was pleased with her and held out to her the gold sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther approached and touched the tip of the sceptre. Esther 5
Esther went immediately from her fast into the presence of the King and she was received. She had prepared in private and many in Susa stood with her for that crucial moment. Once again she found Favour in the sight of an earthly ruler after bowing before Israel’s true King.
31-32 “So don’t worry at all about having enough food and clothing. Why be like the heathen? For they take pride in all these things and are deeply concerned about them. But your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them,33 and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live as he wants you to.
34 “So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time. Matthew 6, The Living Bible
