5 THIS IS WHAT THE LORD SAYS:
‘CURSED is the one who TRUSTS IN MAN,
who DEPENDS ON FLESH FOR HIS STRENGTH
and WHOSE HEART turns away from the Lord. Jeremiah 17
7 ‘But BLESSED is the one who TRUSTS IN THE LORD,
WHOSE CONFIDENCE IS IN HIM. Jeremiah 17
Jeremiah was known as the ‘Weeping Prophet’ because of all the terrible judgements he saw God was allowing to come on the people of Judah. Yet God makes a very clear distinction between two classes of people in just four verses of Jeremiah 17.
The most significant difference is who are people trusting in, ‘man or God’. The devil has twisted the thinking of many today, even many believers, through the voice of the media. We must realise that mainstream media today is constantly pushing a narrative which opposes and indeed mocks the truth of God.
6 HE (one alone) will be like a BUSH IN THE WASTELANDS; (Very vivid, only a stunted bush in barren land)
they will NOT SEE PROSPERITY when it comes. Jeremiah 17
8 THEY will be like a TREE (Not a bush) planted by the water
that SENDS OUT ITS ROOTS BY THE STREAM.
We know that water is the source of natural LIFE, but many people are living in terrible situations, because they are far removed from the source of ALL LIFE, WHO IS CHRIST. Many are barely surviving, they’re living in the wasteland instead of by the stream! They have nowhere to draw water from to survive nor thrive in this life.
6 They will dwell in the parched places of the DESERT,
in a SALT LAND where no one lives. (In Isolation)
8 It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has NO WORRIES IN A YEAR OF DROUGHT (Droughts tend to be long lasting)
and NEVER FAILS TO BEAR FRUIT.’
Believers can and SHOULD THRIVE IN TIMES OF DROUGHT, because we have a secure source. The whole land can be in drought but there’s no need for God’s Children to be affected to the same extent – we have a sure supply. Times of trial will also reveal the true source of many lives. May we truly know God’s love and protection in these uncertain times. Hallelujah
God bless and keep you today. Immanuel
