MY HEART REJOICES IN THE LORD; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I DELIGHT IN YOUR DELIVERANCE. 1 Samuel 2:1

Hannah’s prayer

Then Hannah prayed and said:

‘MY HEART REJOICES IN THE LORD;
    in the Lord my horn is lifted high.
My mouth boasts over my enemies,
    for I DELIGHT IN YOUR DELIVERANCE.

‘There is no one holy like the Lord;
    there is no one besides you;
    there is no Rock like our God. 1 Samuel 2

Hannah really rejoiced in all the Lord had done for her, she was no longer sad and dejected. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME WE REALLY REJOICED BEFORE GOD AND THANKED HIM FOR HIS GOODNESS TO US? Let us begin today, even in small ways, to THANK HIM and see how our spirits are lifted!

‘Do not keep talking so proudly
    or let your mouth speak such arrogance,
for the Lord is a God who knows,
    and by him deeds are weighed.

God knows our words and deeds, but there’s no condemnation for praising and thanking Him for the many blessings He gives daily. Praise and thankfulness open the door to more blessings. Hannah was blessed with three more sons and two daughters.

‘The Lord brings death and makes alive;
    he brings down to the grave and raises up.
The Lord sends poverty and wealth;
    he humbles and he exalts.
He raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes
    AND MAKES THEM INHERIT A THRONE OF HONOUR.

‘For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s;
    on them he has set the world.
He will guard the feet of his faithful servants, (AMEN, Yes Lord)
    but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness.

Hannah received great revelation by the Spirit of God as she uttered the words of this prayer. She tells us explicitly things  about the Character and Power of the God we serve.

What a change in Hannah, the woman who was broken-hearted and wept before God to the one filled with Praise and Thanks for all His goodness to her. These are the last recorded words of Hannah in the Bible. What a great way to sign off from your role on earth, leaving a legacy of Praise to a faithful God.

24 ‘“‘The Lord bless you
    and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine on you
    and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face towards you
    and give you peace.’”

27 ‘So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.’ Numbers 6
