There are six further references in the short Book of Titus where Paul instructs Titus that the Believers should do Good. (Three in chapter 2 and three in chapter 3)
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, … but TO TEACH WHAT IS GOOD. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, SO THAT NO ONE WILL MALIGN THE WORD OF GOD (the people we meet daily read our lives). Titus 2
Older women are regarded as ‘Knowledge Keepers’ in some communities and Paul urged here that they should guide the younger women in their way of life. Godly Women can certainly help many believers in the Body of Christ.
6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 IN EVERYTHING SET THEM AN EXAMPLE BY DOING WHAT IS GOOD. (Once again our lives are open books, read by all) … so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. (They obviously faced opposition and Paul urged that Believers shouldn’t present the critics any opportunity to malign the Lord’s people)
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, EAGER TO DO WHAT IS GOOD.
(VERSES 11-14 were a powerful Proclamation used by Derek and Ruth Prince privately and while they ministered the Word. It may be beneficial for us to SPEAK IT ALOUD over our own lives.)
God’s Grace is available for all, but we must acknowledge Christ and His sacrifice to partake in it. We need to live Godly lives in this age now to share with the Lord in eternity.
Verse 14, Christ gave Himself for us to redeem a people (a Bride) of His very own, EAGER TO DO what is Good. There’s a difference between religious observances and being Eager to do what’s Good, our hearts have to want to be like the Lord.
God bless and keep you today.
