Kindness done with pure motive always reaps a good reward. Proverbs 11:16, 17

16 A kind-hearted woman gains honour/respect,
    but ruthless men gain only wealth.

17 A kind man benefits himself,
    but the cruel bring ruin on themselves. Proverbs 11

It’s interesting that Proverbs identifies blessings for BOTH THE KIND WOMAN AND MAN IN SUCCEEDING VERSES. All who show kindness will reap blessings, Hallelujah.

We were listening to a young believer last night speaking of angels sometimes appearing in human form. There are many recorded examples of people who appear for some reason and just as suddenly disappear. This young woman encountered someone who needed help, while there was at the same moment an opportunity for her to meet an influential person. She decided to pass-up meeting the noteworthy person and help the one in need. After she’d done what she felt, she had a sense that she’d passed a secret test from heaven – choosing to help the needy, rather than taking the opportunity to promote self.

Definitions for ‘Kind’, even in Secular dictionaries have many words relating to the heart – kind-hearted, tender-hearted, warm-hearted, soft-hearted, Good-hearted. It seems that even dictionary compilers, (lexicographers), recognise that ‘Kindness’ comes from a good heart.

Love is patient, love is KIND. 1 Corinthians 13

The great definition of ‘Love’ in the New Testament begins with two short positive statements and the second one is being ‘Kind’. The succeeding words are all things that Love is not (negatives) – not envious, not boastful, not proud …

17 Whoever is KIND to the poor lends to the Lord,
    and he will reward them for what they have done. Proverbs 19

Once again a further scripture with a PROMISE TO THOSE WHO ARE KIND TO THE NEEDY. God sees and BLESSES those who give, often unseen.

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6

Paul’s writings to his spiritual son Timothy also emphasise the need for Kindness in the true Servant of the Lord;

23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel but must be KIND to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 2 Timothy 2
