‘How Much More’ from the Words of Jesus. (Jesus was God’s sign of How Much More God loved us).
Jesus told the people how truly valuable they were in God’s eyes and that they shouldn’t worry because He cared deeply for them. 2 parallel passages Matthew 6, Luke 12
We need to STORE UP HIS WORDS in our hrearts so that when Worry comes knocking at the door, Faith is there to answer.
CONSIDER the birds; how God cares for them and He expects nothing in return.
22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR LIFE, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: they do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; YET GOD FEEDS THEM. AND HOW MUCH MORE VALUABLE YOU ARE THAN BIRDS! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Luke 12
CONSIDER the beautiful flowers, how God cares for them.
27 ‘Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, How Much More will he clothe you – you of little faith!
The bottom line(conclusion), Jesus wanted us to know our Heavenly Father CARES FOR US, ‘Much More’ than the birds and the flowers.
Jesus was confronted by the Religious in the synagogue, arguing about healing on the Sabbath. He challenged them about how valuable a man was in God’s eyes, compared with rescuing an animal and healed a man with a shrivelled hand.
11 He said to them, ‘If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 HOW MUCH MORE Valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.’
13 Then he said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other. Matthew 12
Jesus other statement in this regard was a caution, not to be disheartened when others attacked us for being His.
24 ‘The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25 It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul (devil), How Much More the members of his household!
26 ‘So do not be afraid of them’. Matthew 10
